Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Senior Faculty Specialist will work at the Methods and Application of Food Composition Laboratory coordinating an NIH-funded research program evaluating the ingredient content (through chemical analysis) and performance quality of dietary supplements.
The Senior Faculty Specialist will lead a team studying the ingredient content and performance of dietary supplements for the Dietary Supplement Ingredient Database (DSID). The Senior Faculty Specialist will also coordinate research efforts with other USDA labs, academic labs, other federal agencies, and industry.
This position requires the ability to manage technical personnel, to coordinate multiple project areas simultaneously, and to manage the annual budget.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related field.

Experience:
  • 8 years of relevant experience to education.
  • Experience in research management, complex data analysis, and management of laboratory testing required.
  • Statistical experience and experience writing manuscripts required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical thinking skills required.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving abilities required.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Expertise in dietary supplement research, research management, complex data analysis, statistics and writing manuscripts.
  • MS in Science or a related field.
