Job Summary
Eastern Washington University is seeking a Senior Director Organizational Development who will play a crucial role in ensuring employee engagement, job satisfaction, and success is supported throughout their career through the implementation and provision of effective organizational development strategies. This is a new position for EWU and this role will report to our Associate V.P. of Human Resources. EWU is committed to supporting our employees as they develop their careers and enrich their lives.
  • This position requires a strategic leader who has the passion, expertise, and skills to support employee success throughout the entirety of their institutional careers beginning with effective on boarding and continuing with training/talent development. This position will also include succession planning as well as ensuring employees have access to university wellness resources and activities to support their health and well-being.

Conditions of Employment

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, organizational development, business administration, human resources, or related field
  • Four (4) years previous leadership experience in organizational development, employee training/development, or related position
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience with technologies and best practices for instructional manuals and teaching platforms
  • Strong management skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Organized and able to create multiple timelines, and schedules
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions

    • Assess and identify employee training and talent development needs across campus
    • Consult and collaborate with managers, leadership, and stakeholders campus wide to design and implement talent development programs to enhance the skills, capabilities, and leadership qualities of faculty and staff such as on-the-job training, seminars, workshops, and e-learning
    • Collaborate with leadership and appropriate stakeholders to ensure employee training and talent development meet the succession planning needs of the university
    • Develop training strategies and initiatives in different modalities including in-person, on-line, and virtually
    • Prepare materials, tutorials, instructions, and learning resources (such as online modules and guides) that support both employee development and employee well-being
    • Schedule training
    • Effectively communicate/market organizational development opportunities to appropriate stakeholders
    • Conduct seminars, workshops, training, and development programs
    • Develop and lead campus-wide employee in-service days
    • Maintain centralized websites/databases of all trainings, and training materials across the institution and maintain the centralized employee training and development calendar
    • Coordinate and monitor enrollment, schedules, costs, and equipment
    • Establish metrics and process for measuring and assessing learning outcomes and the effectiveness of training programs
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to Learning and Development
    • Stay abreast of industry developments and trends in learning and development
    • Contact and facilitate outside trainers/vendors, consistent with available institutional budget and institutional training needs
    • Administer and coordinate the University’s employee onboarding program to integrate new employees into the University community and support their success by ensuring they have the necessary information and tools they need to perform their jobs and understand the university’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and culture
    • Administer and coordinate the University’s employee offboarding program to ensure stakeholders are aware of check-out procedures, that university property is returned and checked-in, and that exit surveys are completed
    • Administer and coordinate the University’s employee wellness program by maintaining the University’s wellness website to ensure that employees are aware of the wide range of resources and activities available to support overall health and well-being and by maintaining the University’s centralized wellness activity calendar(s)
