Description

 

Responsible for oversight of school/division day-to-day financial and administrative functions. Develops and executes projects, strategies, and programs that support the effective management of the school/division. Consults and provides strategic advice to school/division senior management. Directs multiple assigned functional areas, supervising through managers.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for oversight of school/division day-to-day financial and administrative functions. Develops and executes projects, strategies, and programs that support the effective management of the school/division. Consults and provides strategic advice to school/division senior management. Directs multiple assigned functional areas, supervising through managers.
  • Working closely with school/division senior management and with appropriate input from the Budget Center, develops and implements relevant financial, operating, and strategic business plans. Ensures financial, workforce, and technology resources are allocated in a manner consistent with plans. Acts a primary liaison with Budget Center.
  • Directs the daily operation of multiple administrative organizational units. Responsible for staff performance management: goal setting, coaching, developing, and assessment. Facilitates communication and coordination activities across the assigned units.
  • Working with Facilities, develops, plans, and directs special projects which may include space renovations/allocations and equipment purchases. Assesses long-range facility needs and develops plans.
  • Reviews, may negotiate, and implements human resource actions. Collaborating with Human Resources Office, manages hiring, workforce planning/position management, separations, salary administration, and sensitive performance situations. Provides oversight of school/division payroll and timekeeping submissions.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of technology initiatives and data analytics/metrics to meet current and future needs. Manages data across functions for analysis and decision-making. Ensures technology plans integrate and can be supported by Tufts Technology Services.
  • Represents the school/division across the university and coordinates with organizational units to improve service, solve problems, and develop strategies for service delivery. Builds and maintains relationships inside and outside the organization, ensuring strong cross-group collaboration and partnerships.
  • Serves on relevant committees with the school/division and across the university.
 

Qualifications

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Bachelor’s degree in related field and 10 years of related experience.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience with data management, data analysis, financial and budget planning and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written skills.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects and issues with sensitivity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tact, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Results oriented and willing to be hands on managing new activities, including recruiting and building a team. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in higher education or other intellectually-based environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a complex structure and the ability to bring a thoughtful, poised, and positive approach to the role.

     
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
This role is performed in a hybrid or on-site working environment depending upon the operational requirements of the school/division.
