Position Highlights University of Arizona Health Sciences is seeking a Senior Clinical Research Manager to support the All of Us Research Program, a federally funded joint effort at the University of Arizona and Banner Health. The All of Us Research Program is a national effort supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that aims to build the largest and most diverse database of health information of its kind that researchers can use to study health and illness. The All of Us Research Program at the University of Arizona and Banner Health will contribute significantly to the development of this database by enrolling 100,000 or more participants in our region who volunteer their health data over many years.

The UArizona - Banner Health All of Us Research Program is looking for a strong leader to join our team. We are looking for an individual with demonstrated leadership experience to lead and develop our growing consortium. The Senior Clinical Research Manager will demonstrate competence in communication, problem solving, decision making, priority setting, mentorship, and serve as a resource for others for all aspects of conducting a technologically focused, multi-center study.

This position will be responsible for managing clinical research operations across all regions; working closely with Regional Clinical Research Managers to achieve program milestones and implement program initiatives.

Must be willing to work in a clinical setting.

Position is based in Phoenix or Tucson, AZ. This position will require regular travel within Central Phoenix and Tucson, with occasional out-of-state travel.

Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor clinical research managers and senior clinical research coordinators who oversee daily operations at research sites; develop skills related to problem solving and managing others.
  • Complete regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports to review performance and provide feedback and guidance.
  • Act as hiring manager for clinical operations positions (screen candidates, schedule and conduct interviews, assemble hiring panels).
  • Onboard new managers to understand protocol, best practices, and overall expectations.
  • Escalation pathway for personnel issues and staffing concerns; resolve issues with HR and All of Us leadership.
  • Provide oversight when developing operational processes, workflows and policies; ensuring NIH, UA and Banner requirements are met.
  • Complete site audits to review compliance, competency, and productivity; organize and implement site rescue visits as needed.
  • Identify barriers to enrollment and problem solve solution to overcome; design implement novel approaches to ensure enrollment goals are met.
  • Monitor daily enrollment targets across sites – work with leads to develop strategy when metrics are not being met.
  • Identify barriers to retention and problem solve solutions to overcome.
  • Attend national and local calls and meetings to ensure programmatic awareness and ensure knowledge gained is passed down to operations staff.
  • Communicate study related issues and updates to sites managers.
  • Communicate site and personnel issues to program leadership and human resources.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop initiatives to achieve milestones.
  • Track progress across all sites to accurately report to principal investigators, All of Us leadership, and national partners.
  • Oversee and follow through on questions and issues that arise during clinical research conduct.
  • Train staff in preparation and conduct of clinical trials and protocol specific operations. Coordinate with program leadership and principal investigators to ensure standardized workflows are implemented across all sites.
  • Prepare study staff and participate directly in recruitment/enrollment. Determine best method/s to identify potential participants for research protocol (advertisements, chart reviews, monitoring of clinic schedule, etc.) and prepare accordingly.
  • Oversee data entry and validation to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance of data collection process. Ensure quality of data submitted from study sites and assure timely submission of data.
  • Conduct pre-consent screening to determine eligibility; Collect and process specimens to meet study requirements, including saliva, urine and intravenous blood samples.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to work both independently and with a team, resolving issues with a positive outcome.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Five (5) years of related work experience, including two (2) years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of
    education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications● Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment.

● Bilingual (English/Spanish) language applicants preferred in order to support program milestone of reaching diverse communities for participation.

● Working knowledge of university policies and procedures related to research administration.
