Senior Biostatistician

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in Statistics or Biostatistics. Experience with multiple statistical packages. Experience in biostatistical consultation and collaboration in an academic clinical research translational research. Proficiency in SAS or R software and/or expertise in state-of-the-art statistical methodology.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a clinical research environment, data coordinating center, or clinical trials environment. Experience in supporting grant applications. Experience in teaching biostatistics to health professionals. Experience in clinical research designs and/or analysis. Experience with RedCAP, data management, and/or cleaning.
Brief Description of Duties:
 
The Biostatistical Consulting Core, Office of Scientific Affair, School of Medicine, Stony Brook University, invites applications for a full-time position of a PhD level Biostatistician. This position offers excellent opportunities for academic scholarship, research leadership, collaboration with substantial statistical responsibilities, and publication, as well as skills in managing, programming and analyzing data from multiple sources. The successful candidate will work with investigators, research coordinators, medical students and post-graduate fellows to complete various translational and clinical research projects using a variety of statistical techniques. In addition, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to collaborate with other experienced statisticians and supervise one or more master level biostatisticians/junior trainees who are enrolled in Stony Brook University graduate programs. Ability to effectively communicate bio statistical concepts, both written and oral, to non-statisticians.
Duties:

  • Perform a variety of duties involving the application of statistical skills to the design and analysis of research studies. Works as a member of a research team/study team to provide statistical expertise in the design, execution, and analysis of studies. Participate in the preparation of written and oral presentations that summarize the analysis results, interpret the findings, and provide conclusions and recommendations.
  • Participate in the development of new grant applications by helping with the study design, refining study research questions and study aims, performing sample size/power estimation, and writing relevant statistical sections.
  • Participate in teaching programs for medical/graduate students, residents, fellows, and faculty.
  • Develop relevant statistical methodology.
  • Other duties as assigned.
