SENIOR ACCOUNTING OFFICER, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to be responsible for financial reporting, compliance, analysis, control, and ongoing development of complex accounting and financial functions for assigned areas. Responsibilities include developing and making improvements to accounting and reporting processes; reviewing and managing financial data using SAP and other financial reporting tools; and collaborating with other VPF staff, the MIT community, and external parties.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, business, or related field; seven years’ experience in financial operations, including accounting and account reconciliation; knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations for specialty areas, including those specific to research and nonprofit organizations; demonstrated financial planning, analysis, and budgeting skills; working knowledge of ability to interpret and apply complex university/state/federal regulations as they relate to administration and compliance; experience with or knowledge of accounting principles; meticulous attention to detail; strong analytical, organizational, customer service, negotiation, decision-making, and oral and written communication skills; and proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe software.  Must be able to identify and analyze problems/situations in a multifaceted way and develop and participate in implementing innovative solutions; function independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction; collaborate with a diverse group of individuals from varying backgrounds and levels; and multitask, manage a heavy workload with conflicting priorities, and meet strict deadlines in a complex, busy, and changing environment.  PREFERRED: MBA or master's degree in a related field; certified public accountant (CPA); experience with reporting tools, specifically Brio, and with accounting and reporting systems; proficiency with database management; and experience in higher education or nonprofit accounting.  Job #21563-10

Salary Range: $91,350 -$110,000
