The University of Northern Colorado is located in Greeley, Colorado. The city has a population of 110,000 and is perfectly situated on the high plains with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. Position Description:
 
The University of Northern Colorado invites applicants for the School of Art & Design Sculpture/Digital Fabrication Coordinator position. This position requires an understanding of and fluency in traditional and digital sculpture methods and digital fabrication in both teaching and technology. In addition to teaching an annual 3/3 load of sculpture/digital fabrication classes at all levels in a BA program, the Sculpture/Digital Fabrication Coordinator will also run and maintain the area, which requires the hiring, training, and supervision of student workers. The Sculpture/Digital Fabrication Coordinator will also be responsible for, in consultation with faculty and staff, creating increased opportunities for advanced classroom technologies, implementing open lab hours for all School of Art & Design students, and participating in related service and recruiting needs as they arise.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Teach three classes per semester in the sculpture/digital fabrication area, including participation in the supervision of student-directed studies and capstone projects.  
  • Coordinate the sculpture/digital fabrication area.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of the area labs and maintain the facilities orderly, safe, and operable.
  • Hire, train, and supervise area student lab assistants and manage the schedule of open lab hours for all School of Art & Design students.
  • Provide studio/equipment/facility expertise to faculty, students, and staff to increase the utilization of digital materials and methods of advanced classroom technologies and equipment, including but not limited to 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines.
  • Responsible for compliance with school and university policies and procedures and concerning health and safety.
  • Purchase, control, and maintain all area equipment and materials inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chair, Director or Dean to support the goals and mission of the school and college.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MA in Sculpture, Digital Fabrication, Digital Media, or other 3D discipline or documented equivalent professional experience.
  • One year of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • One year of experience running a traditional or digital lab.
  • Proficient oral & written communication skills.

  • Wood Working & Metal Working tools and techniques, including power and hand tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • MFA in Sculpture, Digital Fabrication, Digital Media, or other 3D discipline.
  • Two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Two years of experience running traditional and digital labs.
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching 3d modeling software.
  • Experience hiring, training, and supervision of student lab assistants.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
