The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Cell, Developmental, & Integrative Biology, is seeking a Researcher II.

General Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision:

  • To set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter and summarize data.
  • To monitor results and report unusual outcomes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains a portion of the lab's mouse colony which includes basic animal husbandry (setting up and checking matings, genotyping, and weaning mice).
  • General technician duties would include dish washing and autoclaving.
  • Maintains lab stock and inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Hourly Salary Range     $15.50 - $23.51

     

    Qualifications

     
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
    • OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    • Degree in a biomedical science preferred.
    • Previous experience with handling mice.
    • Basic cell and molecular biology including cell culture and plasmid cloning.
