Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB),Department of Neuropathology is seeking a Researcher III to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating malignant brain tumors development.

General Responsibilities

As directed:

  • To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.

  • To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data.

  • To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications.

  • To develop and improve techniques for the lab.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Screen and identify novel targets to understand the role of the tumor micro-environment (TME) and the non-cellular extracellular matrix components in high grade gliomas growth, invasion, and advance therapeutic efficacy.

  • Focus on cancer biology studies using in-vitro cancer cell models, brain tumor mouse models and patient-derived glioma models with the main goal of focusing on projects that have a high potential for future clinical translation.

  • Oversee projects within the laboratory as well as assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities.

  • Annual Salary Range $35,570.00 - $59,800.00



    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in a related field

    • OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience

    • OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    • Experience in cell culture, cancer research mice models , histology, Flow Cytometry, Western Blots, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) or Immunofluorescence (IF), microscopy, assays will be favorably considered.

    • Prior experience working with human specimens including tissue processing.

    • Experience with animal and EHS protocol renewal/development.
