Job Summary
The primary responsibility for this position is to provide expertise in the field of astrocyte biology and neurodegeneration, and to use transgenic mouse models, classic molecular and cellular approaches, and cutting edge neuroscience techniques to advance the understanding of astrocyte-dependent mechanisms relevant to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. The investigator is expected to apply a variety of techniques and the tools mentioned above to identify key molecular pathways contributing to or preventing the progression of Alzheimer’s disease pathology. The investigator is expected to design and conduct experiments independently, write manuscripts, and expand on the existing findings on how astrocytes contribute to amyloid-beta clearance in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to the research responsibilities, the investigator is expected to work with collaborators to obtain extramural funding to support the pertinent research.
