JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We are recruiting for a Research Technologist to work in the lab of Steven Hicks, MD, PhD in the Department of Pediatrics at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA.  The successful applicant needs to have experience in cell culture (cell treatment, harvesting, transfection), as well as molecular biology techniques (DNA and RNA extraction, quantitative real-time PCR, Western blot analysis, ELISAs, immunohistochemistry). The position will require processing of human saliva, breastmilk, cerebrospinal fluid, stool, blood, and urine samples under approved protocols. The applicant should be able to work on weekends and evenings when experiments dictate. Experience with Mac and PC computers, Word, and Excel are necessary. This position will be filled at a level 1 or level 2 depending on education and experience.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1.  Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position: 

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check 
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History- 
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
