The applicant will work mostly with Dr. Kachikis, but there are also opportunities to work with other investigators in the MFM division including Dr. Shree and Dr. McCartney. Dr. Kachikis’ research focuses on infections and vaccines in pregnancy. Dr. Shree works primarily on understanding the reproductive origins of adult disease, specifically cardiovascular disease after preeclampsia. Dr. McCartney’s work focuses on immunology in the maternal-fetal placental interface.

POSITION PURPOSE
The primary role is to support the investigator’s research programs with participant recruitment, participant enrollment, and communications both with participants and clinical care teams. The technician will also participate in sample procurement, processing, and storage as well as data abstraction from the electronic medical record. This involves processing blood for serum, plasma, peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) isolation, and placental samples. Depending on experience and interest, this individual will have the opportunity to develop SOPs, REDCap forms, oversee student work in the laboratory and assist in other laboratory assays and procedures. We plan to involve this technician in academic opportunities, including naming on abstracts and publications as appropriate.
