Job Summary
Responsibilities
Assists with planning, development, and execution of research in the laboratory.
Assists in organizing and managing the laboratory including washing glassware and ordering supplies.
Participates in writing reports and manuscripts.
Conducts periodic training for current and new members of the laboratory.
Conducts literature reviews.
Presents research findings at staff meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences
May serve as a lead research specialist.
Contributes to keeping the lab organized and reagents in stock.
Collects and enters data. Assists in analysis of data and with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
Complies with institution, state and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).---

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted (e.g., biology, cell biology, cancer biology).
Experience:
- Experience in conducting wet or dry lab work in a research laboratory, preferably in an independent project.
- Experience in working within academic and laboratory research environments, preferably in an independent project (e.g., undergrad summer projects).
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Knowledge of basic computer proficiency including computer programs and standard laboratory equipment.
- For experimental candidates, knowledge of research techniques or methods for basic molecular biology and sterile techniques (cell biology, translation, transcription, primary cultures, microscopy, cell assays, biochemical assays, molecular biology assays).
- For computational candidates, knowledge of basic programming in a few coding languages.
- Knowledge of relevant scientific fields.
- Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures.
Preferred Competencies
- Demonstrated problem-solving, organization, analytical, and coordination skills.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend scientific and technical literature, and methods to stay abreast of developments in the field.
- Work independently and collaborate with other lab personnel.

- Ability to train others.
- Ability to be flexible in changing research focus strongly preferred.
