Research Technician III/IV- Amor Lab

Updated: 1 day ago
Location: Cold Spring Harbor, NEW YORK
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, located on Long Island, New York, is presently seeking a Research Technician III or IV in the laboratory of Dr. Corina Amor.
The Amor Lab studies cellular senescence. Senescence is a stress response program that is triggered in damaged cells and leads to their elimination by the immune system. If uncleared, the accumulation of senescent cells generates a chronic pro-inflammatory microenvironment that conduces to aging and tumor development. We seek to understand how the immune system recognizes and targets these cells in physiological conditions and how senescent cells evade immune clearance in disease. We aim to leverage our findings to develop immune-based therapeutic approaches to target senescent cells in cancer, aging and age-related pathologies. In our studies we develop and combine novel somatic mouse models of cancer and cell-based therapeutics such as our recently developed senolytic CAR T cells.

Position Responsibilities

Job duties will be focused on mouse work. This will include: mouse handling and colony management, administration of therapeutic agents to mice, surgical procedures and animal imaging.

Position Requirements

Education: MS degree in veterinary, biology, biomedicine, biochemistry or related life science discipline is required.
Skills and experience:  Previous mouse handling experience is a must. Candidates without previous animal experience will not be considered. Additional experience administering therapeutics to mice or performing surgeries will be an advantage but not required. We are looking for a candidate willing to learn new skills and work productively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a strong sense of integrity. We require a minimum of 2 years commitment to the position.
