Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory invites applications for a Research Technician in the laboratory of Dr. Hannah Meyer (https://meyer-lab-cshl.github.io/).
 
 The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of computational and experimental scientists to study T cell development and auto-immunity. The lab technician will assist members in the Meyer lab in a variety of projects, with a particular focus on processing and biobanking of human tissue samples. As a lab technician in the Meyer lab, you will be a full member of our team, with room to grow by conducting your own independent projects and working on your science communication through presentations in lab meetings and journal clubs.
 
 Additional responsibilities include lab inventory management, equipment calibration, preparation of biochemical reagents and animal colony maintenance.
 
 The candidate should be able to commit to flexible work hours, with evening shifts necessitated by arrival of human specimen.
 


Position Requirements

Education- BS/BA in biology, biomedicine, biochemistry or related life science discipline is required.
Experience required: 0-2 years
Desired skills and experience: Experience in any of the following techniques would be advantageous: working with clinical tissue samples, microscopy and flow cytometry. Experience with standard molecular and cell biology techniques including cell culture, biochemical assays such as western blotting and immunoprecipitation is preferred. The candidate should be willing to commit at least 2 years to this position, and possess excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills; the willingness and ability to work independently and take initiative; and a strong sense of integrity.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $45,000 – $50,999.   The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
