Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, analyze, and archive the following molecular biology experiments in a manner that is scientifically justifiable, reliable and understandable to others:
    • Isolation of antibodies from single B cells derived from humans and non-human primates
    • Characterization of recombinant antibodies for binding specificties and epitope mapping
    • Generate recombinant antibodies in vitro to test for binding
  • Perform experiments to QC and characterize recombinant antibodies and HIV-1 envelope proteins using biochemical and immunological techniques, such as FPLC, SDS-PAGE, Western blots, and ELISA
  • Keep lab equipment, chemicals reagents and supplies in excellent order; maintain lab supplies, including ordering of reagents, and train new technicians on similar steps
  • Understand and comply with all safety standards and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all laboratory staff. Closely follow all standard operating procedures

Education, Skills, & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field
  • Basic skills in laboratory techniques
  • Must be able to manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities and have ability to quickly learn new skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, well organized with strong communication skills and ability to work in an interactive team environment.
