Position Summary | A laboratory in the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease is seeking a lab manager and technician. The research of the laboratory is focused on intestinal stem cells, gastrointestinal cancers, and biomedical engineering/translational approaches to improve human health. The lab technician/manager will be responsible for over-all administration of lab organization and maintenance. They will also be responsible for performing experimental techniques directed by graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and the Principle Investigator. The technical work includes but is not limited to mouse colony management, genotyping, DNA/RNA/protein analysis by PCR/qPCR/western blotting, plasmid vector design/recombinant DNA engineering, gene expression by Taqman assays, tissue culture, flow cytometry/FACS, and other standard laboratory practices such as making solutions. The management work includes but is not limited to ordering supplies/reagents, maintaining databases, maintenance and upkeep of laboratory space, maintaining animal/environmental health and safety protocols, communicating directly with the Principle Investigator and other laboratory personnel. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Candidates should have experience handling mice and managing mouse colonies, PCR, qPCR, tissue culture expertise, pouring/running DNA electrophoresis gels, strong motivation, independent, strong organizational/time management skills, and positive disposition. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Prefer CRISPR gene editing experience. |
