Position Summary
Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has dramatically improved the long-term survival of relapsed/refractory leukemia patients, demonstrating that we can achieve new levels of cure for aggressive and otherwise terminal cancers using this strategy. Our laboratory is specifically working to extend this technology to a wider range of cancers, utilizing screening techniques to test the efficacy of various new CARs against solid tumors (currently pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, glioblastoma, and prostate cancer). These techniques require handling many different types of tumor cell lines in culture, and many plates of cells, over the course of each experiment. 
The ideal candidate will be a curious, go-getter with a passion for translational research. The candidate will get to develop skills on cutting-edge equipment to tackle interesting questions advancing cancer research and potential contribution to developing new therapies. The candidate will work closely with other members of the lab, such as grad students and senior scientists.
This position is responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from the supervisor, manager or higher-level technician.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
  • Working knowledge of computer software.

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Salary Range
$16.21 - $21.69 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
