The University of Pittsburgh’s Aging Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Research Scientist to work as part of a collaborative team focused on the phenotypic characterization of aging marmosets relative to marmoset models of Alzheimer’s disease. Will also: (i) work with non-human primate models, behavioral and cognitive phenotyping, and in vivo pharmacology; (ii) perform and oversee behavioral and cognitive experiments in marmoset models and conduct fluid biomarker assays; (iii) work with the research team and collaborators to design complex experiments in line with the overall research hypotheses and milestone plans and be responsible for their implementation including overseeing the performance of such studies and orchestrate the team to execute them within the agreed upon timelines; and (iii) perform and interpret literature searches, data analysis of multi-modal datasets, and interpretation.

 

Must have a PhD degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in a related position working with marmosets.

 

Must also have any experience with: (i) positive reinforcement techniques in non-human primates; (ii) behavioral testing of marmosets including motor, fine motor, sensory, and cognitive assays; (iii) conducting learning, memory, and attention assays using CANTAB or ABET touchscreen software programs  and the analysis and interpretation of multi-modal datasets; (iv) manuscript preparation including lead authorship; (v) phenotypic characterization of animal models for the study of aging and Alzheimer’s disease; (vi) EEG in animal models using telemetry based systems; and (vii) pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies in preclinical model systems.

 

Experience can be concurrent.
