Dissemination of Research Results

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent experience in geophysics, oceanography, physics, engineering, or a related discipline and 10 years of relevant work experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Excellent written and oral communication skills are requisite.  We are particularly interested in field-going researchers who will utilize existing PSC/APL capabilities in field logistics and engineering.  We seek candidates who have a demonstrated research and funding record.

The incumbent will be joining a group of about 20 Principal Investigators at the Polar Science Center which has a 50-year history of cutting-edge high latitude research in sea ice, oceanography, atmospheric science, biology, and glaciology.  Interdisciplinary collaborations are a strength within PSC, but also within APL, which offers a rich array of expertise in Ocean Engineering, Acoustics, and Remote Sensing.  We provide an intellectually stimulating and cooperative research environment with world class expertise and facilities, in addition to collaborative opportunities across the UW campus and local research facilities.  PSC’s history of leadership in high latitude research is one pillar of the UW’s standing as a premier research and teaching institution in geoscience.

Diversity is a core value at the University of Washington and the APL shares this commitment. We are focused on building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable research environment for all students, staff, and collaborators. We believe every member on our team enriches our community by exposing us to a broad range of ways to understand and engage with the world, identify challenges, and to discover, design, and deliver solutions. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
