Oversight of Lab staff and trainees = 10%
o    Consult with PI regarding staffing for the lab
o    Manage the hiring of staff and trainees
o    Oversee onboarding of new lab members including completion of mandatory lab training
o    Train new lab members in a variety of lab techniques

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Education: BA in a related field (Biology, Chemistry, or other related)
• Years of Experience: Two (2) years of experience in research activities
Equivalent experience can be substituted for degree requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Experience with histology and immunoblotting
• Experience with cell culture
• Experience with microscopy
• Experience with experimental animal models
• Experience with molecular biology and biochemistry

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., biology, biomedical sciences, molecular biology)
• Experience managing/updating Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Review Board (IRB), and Biosafety Use Authorization (BUA) protocol.
• Experience managing a basic science lab
• Experience managing more junior staff
• Experience assisting with grant writing

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Due to the nature of the work, this position is not available for telework.

Equivalent education/experience can substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
