The Department of Pediatrics is the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine and includes 20+ subspecialty divisions. The Division of Neonatology has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator. 

The University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the Center on Human Development and Disability are leaders in the field of neonatal and child Neuroscience and Neurodevelopmental clinical care and research.  To further expand our clinical research team , we are looking for a full-time research coordinator to join our existing team.  The role of this position is evenly divided between a database entry project and research activities related to clinical research . An ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, able to think critically and able to work independently.  As a core member of the database project, we envision this applicant to be a substantial part of this project . After initial training, the candidate filling this role must be able to independently abstract data from electronic medical records and take ownership of the data integrity. Further role responsibilities may include adhering to and lead regulatory oversight (i.e., maintaining HIPPA compliance, interactions with the IRB, audit compliance), developing data-analytic plans and projects, and to contributing innovative solutions in the optimization of this data repository.

Part of this role will be collaborating with diverse multidisciplinary research teams. Under supervision, the person in this position will implement and facilitate clinical research studies requiring extensive collaborative efforts for investigator initiated and pharmaceutical- sponsored clinical trials. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with this scope of work.

The schedule is flexible and part  of the work can be done remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Entry & Analysis Component
• Create and maintain REDCap files for research and quality improvement studies
• Responsible for data entry in REDCap
• Extract clinical information from electronic medical charts
• Collaborate and extract data from the RedCap database for other investigators
• Serves as clinical coordination expert for database development and data quality assurance systems.
• Independently monitor data quality for multiple complex databases
• Establish and organize study files, including but not limited to case report forms, video logs, EEG files, radiographic files, and enrollment logs.

Clinical & Other Research Component
• Serve as a clinical resource for faculty when contemplating new research work involving this research project.
• Lead coordinator on industry-sponsored studies, including preparation of IRB-related documents, management of all site materials
• Assist with the IRB approval process, the design and implementation of investigator-initiated research protocols, and quality assurance/improvement reviews, including monitoring and auditing of research studies
• Work with patient families to collect baseline and follow-up data both in person and on the phone/videoconferencing
• Help scheduling and conducting study and follow up visits for UW and SCH site study subjects in person, via phone or videoconference to assure completion of datasets. This may require flexibility in hours.
• Organize, establish and maintain up-to-date records pertaining to study subjects
• Responsible for data entry in REDCap for multiple studies
• Other duties ass assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Pre-Med, or related Biological Science, Social work or related scientific or relevant health-related fields.
• 1 year of related work experien

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with standard MS Office software, including Word, Excel and Power Point. Proficiency with Zoom and Microsoft teams, including videoconferencing, data sharing and communication.
• Proficiency with databases and data entry, REDCap proficiency, both creating REDCap databases and data entry is desirable.
• Substantial ability to work independently and lead peers, technicians, students/and or other support staff as necessary to achieve specific assignments.

DESIRED:
• Knowledge and experience in Human subjects research protection, application and regulation is desired but not required.Similarly, knowledge and experience of medical terminology and diagnoses is preferable but not required.
• Applicants with training or experience in health informatics, data analysis, statistical analysis (including programs such as R for Statistical Computing) are encouraged to apply.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
