Research Associate to assist and support scientific investigation to study research on traumatic brain injury in the laboratory of Dr. Cole Vonder Haar as directed in the Department of Neuroscience . The primary job duties will be care of animal subjects and behavioral testing of animals; this will include oversight of undergraduate research volunteers or employees; coordination of behavioral testing schedules; operant behavioral testing; post-surgical monitoring; record keeping. Though primary duties will be focused on animals, additional expectations may arise from time to time for bench science, including procedures such as PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, ELISA assays, immunohistochemistry, and Western blots. The Research Assistant will also consolidate and assist with analysis of research results; assist in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarize data; assist principal investigator with preparation of  publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; and initiate procurement requests  as needed.

Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/Desired

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 1 year of experience. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
