Required Education:
Appropriate bachelor’s
Required Experience:
- Two years of relevant professional experience
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
- Knowledge of lab room preparation and lab techniques and safety.
- Willing to work with laboratory animals
- Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 lab and follow all guidelines.
- Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.
- Ability to pay attention to detail, keep accurate and up to date research records, maintain equipment records, and follow
- established protocols.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have an excellent attitude and willingness to learn new techniques appropriate to job functions.
Preferred Education:
- Master's in biological science
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience
- Experience with cell cultures, histology, and molecular biology
- Animal handling experience working with mice
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of mammalian cell cultures and downstream assays including protein/nucleic acids assays (RT-PCR, western blot and ELISAs).
- Assist with all aspects of in vivo experiments with laboratory animals (handling animals, drug administration and tissue collections, etc), tissue processing and histological analysis.
- Maintenance of lab equipment, inventory and ordering of lab supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
