Required Education:

  • Appropriate bachelor’s


Required Experience:

  • Two years of relevant professional experience

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of lab room preparation and lab techniques and safety.
  • Willing to work with laboratory animals
  • Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 lab and follow all guidelines.
  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, keep accurate and up to date research records, maintain equipment records, and follow
  • established protocols.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have an excellent attitude and willingness to learn new techniques appropriate to job functions.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's in biological science


Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience
  • Experience with cell cultures, histology, and molecular biology
  • Animal handling experience working with mice


Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds
     

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of mammalian cell cultures and downstream assays including protein/nucleic acids assays (RT-PCR, western blot and ELISAs).
  • Assist with all aspects of in vivo experiments with laboratory animals (handling animals, drug administration and tissue collections, etc), tissue processing and histological analysis.
  • Maintenance of lab equipment, inventory and ordering of lab supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
