Research Associate II

Updated: about 1 month ago

Research Associate (Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope; Duarte, CA): Assist in the study of preclinical antibody testing and clinical experimental therapeutics in hematologic diseases, including, but not limited to, multiple myeloma and acute myeloid leukemia using the Cytometry by Time of Flight (CyTOF) processing technique. Perform a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory research experiments and record and validate results for accuracy and completeness. Perform BioTools/Fluidigm processing using Helios Operators. Perform CyTOF Panel Design, CyTOF antibody conjugation and titration, CyTOF testing, sample acquisition, preserving, straining, processing, and data analysis. Perform single cell CyTOF software data analysis using Cytobank, FlowJo, Astrolabe, Maxpar Pathsetter and OmiqAI. Perform CyTOF maintenance and troubleshooting. Troubleshoot procedures related to mass flow cytometry, including CyTOF processing, if results are unexpected and unsatisfactory. Recommend alternative procedures related to mass flow cytometry as needed. Assist in creating, reviewing, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for multiple parametric flow cytometry including CyTOF testing and for running single cell mass cytometer. Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts by describing methods, including CyTOF application processing and specialized techniques. Keep abreast of new and improved techniques related to CyTOF processing. Assist in the study of the use of biomarkers and identification of novel surface receptors for multiple myeloma and leukemia patient stratification. Accurately record work performed, including results and methodology. Calculate, compile, and analyze data obtained from work performed. Independently evaluate research data and initiate alternative approaches to improve the quality of results by providing input to overall research design. Ensure that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with each procedure by utilizing safety procedures and guidelines in handling, storage, and disposal of bio-hazardous, infectious, and toxic material. Train lab staff in CyTOF application processing and other specialized procedures, equipment, and theoretical concepts behind unique tests.
