Job Description

The NeuroErgonomics Lab in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Texas A&M University is seeking to fill two Research Assistant positions to assist in existing projects. Research in the NeuroErgonomics Lab utilizes theories, methods, and techniques from physiology, biomechanics, neuroscience, engineering, and psychology to better understand, monitor, and augment human health and safety in high-risk environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine human subjects research and keeps detailed records of data.
  • Conducts and assists in human subjects testing in the lab and field environments.
  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
  • Evaluates and summarizes results.
  • Assists graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research associates involved in research.
  • Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Engineering, Public Health, Health and Kinesiology, Neuroscience, etc.

Preferred Experience:

  • Some experience in studies involving human subjects


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Expert level of human subject research (lab or field work)
  • Must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment, and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team-oriented
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Google applications effectively
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
