Job Summary
A researcher in the School of Information Science is seeking one graduate research assistant during the 2024 spring semester to assist with the collection and analysis of TikTok data using the TikTok Research API to investigate the prevalence of shadow banning on the platform. The position will require up to 8 to 10-hours of research-related activity per week for 8 weeks (April and May 2024). The research assistant will play an essential role in the preparation and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data. Responsibilities will include cleaning data and coding observations based on description, hashtags, and video content. Additionally, if interested, the research assistant has the opportunity to participate in dissemination of research findings (this is not part of the paid work). The ideal candidate for the position is organized, flexible with scheduling, and willing and interested to work with social media data.
