This position will provide prospective student recruitment and admissions counseling in targeted markets in the state of Texas, with particular attention to Houston and San Antonio areas.  Position implements recruiting, outreach, and conversion efforts to prospective, applied, and admitted undergraduate students by conducting high school visits, and attending college fairs.  This position also conducts special events and hosts UCCS-specific events to counsel, guide, and direct students to encourage application and enrollment to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS).

Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Position is based in Texas to effectively engage in the state’s strategic recruitment opportunities.
  • Position implements recruiting and outreach activities in Texas to prospective undergraduate students and families, utilizing data to plan and conduct high school visitations to counsel, guide, and direct students to make application to the University. 
  • Position will represent the University both in-person and virtually at targeted high schools; college fairs (both national and regional); specialized recruitment events for prospective students, families, and high school counselors; and other University activities related to the goal of the position all while marketing the positive aspects of UCCS.
  • Campus personnel may travel with employee for training and evaluative purposes. 
  • Travel out-of-state as needed to select areas to recruit students.
  • Support on-campus recruitment efforts by taking phone and virtual appointments, assisting with general inquiries via phone and e-mail, and supporting and processing admissions documents.
  • Responsible for tracking of applicant/ admit/ incomplete reports related to the territory, charged with idea generation to guide strategies and actions to increase yield.
  • Plan, budget and execute events in territory to convert admits to enrollment (example:  admitted student dinner).
  • Take an active role in planning/assisting with Colorado Consortium events
  • Take an active role in regional organizations: TACAC, HARN, TACRAO, for example.
  • Publicly speak, in person and virtually, to individuals or groups of varying sizes (potentially 100 or more) regarding the University and its programs.  Refer requests from the public for information to other campus departments.
  • Prepare professional presentations (speaking and slide decks) for a variety of purposes.
  • Communicate transfer academic advising information to prospective students and families.
  • Guide prospective students and families through admissions counseling conversations for the best interests of the student’s success.
  • Develop and maintain a Fall and Spring travel schedule, including 1-2 trips/ year to UCCS campus for training and updates.
  • Develop relationships with targeted key contacts (high school counselors, community college advisors, etc.) for future prospective student recruitment efforts.
  • Communicate through a variety of methods such as phone, email, in-person, text, and social media.
  • Some night and evening work is required.
  • Secondary responsibilities and other duties as assigned (examples:  visit programs, assisting with development of campus tour guides, development of student assistants, assisting with technical aspects of admissions processing, and more).

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $44,743 - $51,238 per year.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

This position is dependent on the availability of initiative funding. Funding is currently expected to last three years.

Tentative Search Timeline:

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • 2 or more years of full-time equivalent experience in higher education setting working with students professionally or as a student assistant.
  • Located in or planning to relocate to the State of Texas.
  • Valid driver’s license issued by a state within the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference is for position and applicant to be based in Houston metro area or San Antonio.
  • Graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
  • Master’s degree.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand and move. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time. Tasks may also involve frequent participation in school environments and with high school aged youth, undergraduate and graduate students.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
