What You Will Do
The Process Modeling and Analysis Group (E‐2) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking engineers to partner with other LANL staff on a variety of national security programs requiring systems engineering and decision support. E‐2 is part of the Engineering Design and Technology Division (E) and we provide engineering support, systematic analyses, and integrated planning for a diverse portfolio of projects, with systems engineering being a key expertise within the group. You will apply engineering skills to a wide variety of problems, ranging from assisting customers in requirements management, decision support, program planning, risk management,, process improvement, and execution.
As a member of the E-2 team, you will have the opportunity to:
Contribute systems engineering expertise to customers from across the Laboratory including those customers engaged in plutonium sustainment, detonator production, and stockpile stewardship, among others.
Collaborate with customers on a wide range of systems engineering challenges associated with requirements management, programmatic planning, risk management, and process analysis (development, characterization, and improvement).
Aid customers with the creation of planning documents, reports, and presentations as required to support customer deliverables.
Participate in programmatic and technical reviews including the briefing of upper lab management and external customers on complex or high visibility projects (technical writing, presentations).
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Basic knowledge of systems engineering concepts and practices
Understanding of statistical concepts (such as process data variability, data distributions, etc.)
Eﬀective written and oral communication skills
Eﬀective interpersonal skills (including the ability to interact with and elicit information from process experts).
Eﬀective analysis skills (interpreting and presenting analysis results)
Education: A minimum of a BS in engineering or related field from an accredited college or university program is required.
Experience or expertise in process modeling or simulation
Understanding of risk management processes
Experience or expertise in the areas of process monitoring, process control, and failure analysis
Experience in defining requirements for components or processes and translating into planning documents
Experience in business case and economics analysis
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Oracle Crystal Ball (Monte Carlo) or similar software
Active DOE Q clearance

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
