Job Description

As a Quality Assurance Associate, UX for the ASU Enterprise Brand Strategy and Management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that asu.edu websites meet the highest standards of quality, usability, brand alignment and consistency before and after launch.

You will collaborate closely with a team of UX researchers, designers, developers, product and project managers across ASU departments to improve the asu.edu website experience to identify and address errors, inconsistencies, issues and opportunities that may affect the overall user experience.

Essential Duties

  • Collaborates closely with product managers, web developers, designers, UX researchers and project managers to ensure website design and functionality meet the required standards and follow best practices.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits of key asu.edu websites before and after launch to ensure predetermined web standards and ongoing user needs are met.
  • Manages the annual community audits of key asu.edu sites to ensure a premium, consistent, brand-aligned user experience.
  • Monitors the consistency, quality and standards adherence of asu.edu using SiteImprove.
  • Monitors, manages and implements findings and recommendations of the university’s quality assurance tool — reports on status and health of asu.edu and progress on KPIs.
  • Works closely with the Brand team UX designer and Enterprise Technology developers to audit ASU’s design system to identify any inconsistencies.
  • Evaluates and executes various forms of testing that ensure user experience functionality meet established standards.
  • Works under limited direction, independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
  • Provides group training and communications related to quality assurance tools and processes to the ASU web community via Academy programming.
  • May supervise student workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar; two years practical experience or relevant experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience monitoring websites and digital experience for consistency and quality
  • Experience researching web user experience best practices
  • Demonstrated general understanding of website design and architecture best practices
  • Experience working with tools like Siteimprove, JIRA and other project management and web QA tools
  • Experience utilizing web performance and behavioral analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console and Lighthouse
  • Demonstrated knowledge of website development and prior experience working with web developers
  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree in user experience, web design or development, human-computer systems or a related field.
  • Evidence of website user experience knowledge.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of search engine optimization best practices.
  • Evidence of effective communications.
  • Experience with analytical skills.
  • Experience in work that requires attention to detail and ability to solve complex problems.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships.
  • Experience in work that requires organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in creating repeatable and understandable defect and bug tickets for development and other project team members to act upon through a diverse group of applications, including Wrike, JIRA and Google Sheets.
  • Evidence in critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to utilize knowledge of subject area(s) to identify solutions to issues.
  • Ability to work both independently or within a complex structured team.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting and using a laptop/keyboard/mouse. May be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Requires the ability to communicate to perform essential functions. May require frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change focus.
