Position Summary | An hourly lab position is available in the Department of Clinical Sciences in the Preclinical Surgical Research Laboratory (PSRL). This position includes interaction with the Principal Investigator as well as other research associates, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Excellent communication skills, experience in writing technical or scientific reports and manuscripts, and ability to interact productively with coworkers is required. The ideal candidates will demonstrate initiative, creativity, and will have excellent organizational skills; we also seek candidates with enthusiasm, a positive attitude, who works well as part of a team as well as independently. This individual will be part of a team of researchers completing funded projects and will have a broad range of responsibilities. |
Position Minimum Qualifications | • Experience in toxicology, pathology, or an associated field is required |
Preferred Qualifications | • Knowledge of animal models of musculoskeletal diseases • Expertise with animal handling, assessments of gait and mobility, histopathology, immunostaining procedures, proteomics, flow cytometry, cell culture, and statistical analyses • Experience mentoring students |

Duty/Responsibility | * Assist with all PSRL animal studies that involve basic science applications and outcomes * Assist the primary principal investigator for the PSRL Laboratory Space, which will involve regulatory approvals and maintenance (hazardous waste, biosafety, etc.), chemical and safety management, ordering, equipment maintenance, and supply stocking of laboratory areas. * Training graduate and undergraduate students in the general laboratory and on specific laboratory protocols. Oversight and managing of these students when they are in the lab and assisting with their research projects. * Collaborating with other PIs in the department and university * Submitting manuscripts of completed research * Attending scientific conferences and presenting relevant research |
