Job Description

Purpose:

The Project Specialist II will provide intermediate project management support to deliver projects within the established budget and time line.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares research proposals, budgets, and monitors post-award spending on all grants and contracts. Makes sure key personnel commitments on all projects have been met and all spending are within the guidelines of the project. Determines payroll support for the PIs and their group. Works as a liaison with program managers and sponsored projects officers regarding funding. Search and identify research funding opportunities.
  • Performs intermediate project development, disseminates project information, and serves as an active participant in project related work groups and committees. Provides recommendations to achieve goals.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates programs projects.
  • Develops project budgets and prepares contracts. May manage budget for small to medium projects or components of large programs under the direction of program director.
  • Coordinates project activities, collaborates with project team members, assists in the development of measurable project goals and objectives, and monitors progress toward achievement.
  • Prepares agendas for meetings, documents key decisions, and collaborates with team members to develop project collateral.
  • Writes and disseminates work plans and project documents to include procedures, proposals, progress reports, and presentations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills. Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
