Job Description

The Project Coordinator for Youth Entrepreneurship (YE), Research + Development (R+D) will operate under the guidance of the Senior Program Manager, YE Research, Development and Engagement. This role entails close collaboration with stakeholders to conduct research, devise plans, offer recommendations, organize activities, and oversee the implementation of both new and existing project requirements. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for identifying and securing essential resources while coordinating the efforts of all involved parties to ensure the timely delivery of project outcomes in alignment with the expectations set by the sponsoring source.

This is a grant-funded position and is contingent on continued grant funding.

$44,900 - $58,000; per year; DOE


Essential Duties

Strategic (50%)

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with the Senior Program Manager and relevant stakeholders to conduct research, identify trends in education and workplace skills, and contribute to the development of strategic plans for youth entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives.
  • Recommendations and Goal Setting: Provide recommendations based on research findings, contributing to the formulation of project objectives and goals aligned with organizational strategies.
  • Resource Acquisition: Identify and acquire necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support project implementation in line with strategic objectives.
  • Funding Research and Recommendations: Conduct research on funding opportunities that align with organizational programs and strategic goals. Make recommendations for potential funding sources to senior management.
  • Collaboration Opportunities: Identify and assess opportunities for collaboration with internal and external organizations, institutions, or stakeholders that can enhance project outcomes and advance organizational goals.
  • Report Preparation: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate project status, outcomes, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Program Adaptation: Monitor emerging trends in education and workplace best practices relevant to youth. Propose modifications to existing programs or the development of new initiatives to ensure alignment with current best practices and evolving needs.


Programmatic (40%)

  • Project Planning and Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of project plans, organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and other events to support project objectives.
  • Coordination and Monitoring: Coordinate project activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and task assignment, ensuring timely completion of deliverables. Monitor project progress against established milestones and deliverables, addressing issues or obstacles as they arise.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate project status, outcomes, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.


Other (10%)

  • Support other ASU or community initiatives that align with the goals and mission of the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute.
  • Represent E+I and/or Youth Entrepreneurship and serve on various department, unit, and university committees as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in project coordination, preferably related to youth.
  • Experience in work that requires organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships among team members.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of youth development and experience working with underserved populations.
  • Experience in organizing tasks, responsibilities and outcomes; documents activities and tracks progress.
  • Prepares and summarizes project budgets.
  • Fosters team effectiveness by acting to develop an environment that promotes the effectiveness and morale of the team.

Working Environment

  • Work duties are performed in diverse settings including, ASU SkySong (Scottsdale, AZ), and various event/program locations.
  • Regular activities include the use of office equipment including a laptop computer; subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • May require a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate events, projects and initiatives.
  • Domestic travel to campus and partner locations may be required.
  • Regular communication to perform essential duties.
  • Receive regular review of completed tasks.


Flexible Work Options:

  • Alternative work schedules can include and staggered start and stop times.
  • Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
