Position Summary

The UNM Division of Information Technologies seeks candidates for a Programmer Analyst 3 position. The successful candidate will join a high caliber team of professionals in the Information Technologies department in the Operations Team.
The Programmer Analyst 3 position will lead projects to upgrade enterprise applications to ensure the application itself and the underlying infrastructure is up-to-date, secure, and delivering the most value to our end users. The upgrades could be inline upgrades or new installations on new virtual servers. We have a mixed environment of both Windows and UNIX. The Operational support consists of escalated support for production issues, ensuring our various environments are running effectively and performing tests to ensure systems availability.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate application upgrades and the establishment of required infrastructure in a virtualized environment for large, complex, ERP systems
  • Perform as the Application Technical Lead for projects initiated by our Platforms team to maintain and improve our system’s virtual infrastructure
  • Preform as the Technical Lead for internal Application’s projects to improve our systems, processes, and practices
  • Lead the establishment of tools and processes to monitor, validate, and administer these Automated Testing and Configuration as Code systems
  • Provide escalated support to IT Applications incidents
  • Work closely with the multiple offices across campuses as an advocate, an analyst, and champion of IT Application’s core directives: Secure, Accessible, Reliable, Innovative, and Effective
  • Document all work in our knowledge base leveraging different formats such as technical writing, diagrams, charts, and instructions to best communicate source material
  • Advocate for continual improvement of the division by offering recommendations on processes and existing systems
  • Provide after-hours support based on the On-call rotation

The successful applicant will have good communication skills, experience in application support and triage including formal training and a clear sense of customer service. A thorough understanding of the values, practices and procedures found in a higher education environment, and a commitment to mentoring and developing technical staff is also desirable.

This position is open to telecommuting, an arrangement that allows an employee to work on a part-time basis at an alternate location other than a UNM worksite.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

 As demonstrated by supporting documentation (cover letter, resume, portfolio, etc.):

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) 
  • Strong communication, team, customer relations, and organizational skills
  • Experience installing, configuring, and upgrading applications while documenting the process, so it is easily repeatable in the future
  • Experience working closely with customers to understand their needs and translating those needs into technical solutions 
  • Experience leveraging the knowledge of IT infrastructure and security to improve application delivery and performance
  • Experience solving problems with creative solutions
  • Experience with Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, packages, triggers, and views 
  • Experience using basic commands in the Unix shell
  • Experience in managing servers in a virtualized environment, including their security and network routing
  • Experience working in Cloud/on-premises hosted environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast, paced structured environment 
  • Experience working with vendors to resolve issues and gather system requirements 
  • Demonstrated ability to document applications promptly and contribute to knowledge bases
  • Ability to lead small and large complex projects
  • Ability to analyze complex issues from a business and technical perspective
  • Ability to self-manage time when assigned multiple initiatives 
  • Ability to self-manage time when assigned multiple incidents/SRs
  • Ability to listen to feedback and adjust plans accordingly
  • Adaptable and flexible with change
  • ITIL Certification a plus
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology a plus
