The Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center has an opening for a part-time hourly University Staff (classified) Program Support Handler – Weld County.

Position Information

The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) is a unique and collaborative graduate school that combines the collective expertise of three Colorado universities: the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) in Aurora, Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado. The overall mission of the Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center (RMPRC) is to shorten the time it takes to implement evidence-based practices in school settings so that students, school staff and parents can enjoy healthier, happier lives. Within RMPRC, there is the School Wellness Programs (SWP) and their responsibilities include working with preschoolers, elementary students, parents, and school staff in low-income preschools/elementary schools focusing on promoting nutrition education, physical activity and overall health and wellness and are located in one of the following geographic areas: Denver metro area, El Paso, Pueblo, San Luis Valley, Southeast, or Weld counties in Colorado.

This position will work with program staff to assist in preparation and delivery of program materials to school children, parents, and staff to promote an environment supportive of increased physical health through emphasizing increasing moderate to vigorous physical activity and increasing consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.

This position will work in the Weld County and will facilitate and implement for the RMPRC School Wellness Program.  This position will work under the supervision of a Program Manager and the guidance of the program staff to ensure the program is following policies and procedures are required by the University.

Examples of Work Performed

  •  
  • Assist program staff with various tasks involving the prep and delivery of program materials.
    • Assist in shopping of groceries for nutrition lessons.
    • Sorting and bagging groceries.
    • Assist in delivery of groceries to school.
    • Assist with material organization.
    • Mailing program supplies.
  • Help with shopping and preparing for school wide events.
  • Attend events with staff meetings.
  • Recruit parents for Text2LiveHealthy.
  • Assist in gathering information from parents.
  • Data entry.
  • Identify and collaborate with a school liaison that can help with reaching parents.
  • Assist with other programming duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2-years’ experience working in schools or community related outreach work.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in public school or community nutrition/health programs desirable.
  • Experience in adult education coordination.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must possess and maintain current valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, satisfactory driving record, and personal automobile liability insurance.
  • Must be willing and able to drive own vehicle for work as needed (state mileage reimbursement available).
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings, start and end times could vary depending on school and program needs.
  • Must be able to comfortably lift 25 pounds and perform minimal physical demands.

Salary and Benefits

Proposed Salary: $20 per hour; 5-20 hours per month.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
