Project ECHO has a unique opportunity for a Program Specialist to effectively oversee the day-to-day operations of new ECHO programs for Diabetes Health Equity along the US-Mexico border as well as to support the Diabetes/ Multiple Chronic Conditions ECHO as part of the PCORI controlled trial. This position will be part of the New Mexico Diabetes Programs/ Latin America team.

As a Program Specialists you will play an instrumental role in bringing together hundreds of medical professionals and providers to share best practices. The Program Specialist’s primary focus will be to:

·         Plan and implement new programs in coordination with Program Manager and medical director

·         Ensure that communication with participants is  completed quickly and efficiently from  the internal e-mail inbox.

·         Oversee the coordination and collection of monthly, quarterly, and final reports for each program

·         Assemble compiled data  into marketing materials in order to demonstrate the growth of the Diabetes ECHO programs

·         Act as the primary point of contact for administrative questions during  the Diabetes/PCORI ECHO program sessions.

·         Directly ensure timely and accurate collection of data and other deliverables for goals of programs, entering data into proper database system, and creation of required reports.

·         Troubleshoot problems and find solutions to ensure a successful ECHO session.

Project ECHO is funded in part by philanthropic grants and gifts from organizations such as the GE Foundation, the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, the Merck Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the US Government.  Additionally, for programming benefitting New Mexico we receive support from the NM Legislature, the New Mexico Human Services Department and the New Mexico Department of Health.

We work with partners all over the world and work hours outside of normal business hours may be required. We are fortunate to have access to advanced technology, which will require some teleworking.

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s Degree in related field

·         Fluency in Spanish (Spanish verbal and written communication preferred, but not required)

·         Experience working with multicultural organizations

·         High quality organizational skills

·         The ability to work well under deadlines and to multitask

·         The ability to build relationships and coalitions within the community

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
