Position Description Summary:
The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS) invites applications for a full-time (12-month) faculty member to serve as program director of the Physician Assistant Program. The department is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, health equity, and interprofessional collaboration, and is home to one of the premier PA programs in the country which features a strong public health focus. The PA program is located at the Foggy Bottom campus adjacent to the GW Hospital and blocks from the White House. In addition to the two-year PA program, awarding a Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS), the department offers a combined three-year MSHS/Master of Public Health program in partnership with the Milken Institute School of Public Health, and a Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Program.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the SMHS faculty and staff, department chair, and PA faculty and staff, the incumbent will utilize their expertise in program leadership, resource and people management, knowledge of and compliance with ARC-PA Standards, curricular design and assessment, excellence in teaching and student advising, and strong communication skills to lead the PA and the joint degree PA/MPH programs. Engaging in scholarly activities, providing service to the university and community, and advancing interprofessional and collaborative practices are also expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be a physician assistant and hold a graduate degree, be NCCPA certified or emeritus, and be eligible for licensure in DC. In addition, applicants must possess three years of experience in higher education.
Advertised Salary: The full-time faculty appointment will be made at a rank (assistant/associate/full professor) and salary commensurate with experience.
