Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the medical supervision of the head team physician and is responsible for the day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations for the Cheer and Men’s and Women’s Golf. Duties include prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes; pre-participation physicals; maintaining medical records; completing required insurance claims; daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, team physicians, resident athletic trainers, and administration; attending team practices and home and away events; and manages injury prevention programming. This position work setting will vary between Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) facilities and the University Health Center. Assist the Coordinator for UHC Physical Therapy and the Director of Athletic Training with other duties as assigned. |

Additional Information: | Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duty/Responsibility (1): | Provide comprehensive athletic training services for students including evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injury /illness. Attend practices, events and competitions as assigned. Percentage (1): | 80% Essential Duty/Responsibility (2): | Provide timely communication to the Director of Athletic Training and Head Team Physician of developments as situation warrant; participate in regular Sports Medicine Team, ICA, and UHC staff meetings. Positively interact and communicate on a daily basis with students, faculty, coaches, physicians, administrators and members of the sports medicine staff. Percentage (2): | 10% Essential Duty/Responsibility (3): | Maintain credentials, confidentiality, professional boundaries, documentation, and practices competently, as defined by the State of Maryland. Work within NATA’s Ethical Principles. Seeks professional development and continuing education. Percentage (3): | 5% Essential Duty/Responsibility (4): | Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, rules, and regulations governing the University and its employees and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the “NCAA”) and the Big Ten Conference.
