Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field and five years of related experience.  Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.  The university offers market competitive salary and benefits.  Grade EH. Salary Minimum $56,064. 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in public relations and in dealing with issues in intelligence and national security will be preferred. Experience as a student or staffer in an environment of high achieving honors students would be helpful. International travel experience and working knowledge of Latin or ancient Greek would be a bonus preference. 

Position Description

The Associate Director will be in charge of all military liaison responsibilities between the McConnell Center and our military and government partners. This will include relations with the Pentagon, representatives from the national security community, and the US Army War College. They will have primary responsibility for designing and conducting the Center's annual Strategic Broadening Seminar for the U.S. Army. They will also have primary responsibility for designing and implementing the Center's annual offerings in Civic Education including our Young Leaders Academy, Teacher Scholars Program, conferences, lectures, seminars, and publications. In addition, they will be charged with designing and implementing an educational program for McConnell Scholars planning to travel overseas as part of our international experience which they will chaperone as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an annual Strategic Broadening Seminar for the U.S. Army
  • Design and implement a year-long course of programming in Civic Education
  • Design and implement a year-long course of study for McConnell Scholars travelling abroad
  • Design and implement a study abroad experience in Rome, Greece, or the United Kingdom
  • liaison with representatives of the Pentagon and National Security system
  • Seek partners, grants, donors to support our military and civic initiatives
  • Mentor high achieving scholarship students
