The Program Coordinator II for Health Information assists in developing workflows and managing databases for all specialties, in clinical settings or in relation to clinical research. Responsible for ensuring that data is accurate and reliable.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Four years of related experience in a medical/clinical/healthcare setting including experience in two or more of the following: EHR systems, medical billing systems, ancillary clinical systems, document management systems, and electronic prescription processing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve for data security, accessibility, process flows, and operational efficiency.

  • Microsoft Office 2012 or greater and experience using an integrated electronic medical records system

  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, business, data, finance or related field

Preferred Experience:  

  • More than four years of related experience in a medical/clinical/healthcare setting including experience in two or more of the following: EHR systems, medical billing systems, ancillary clinical systems, document management systems, and electronic prescription processing.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Electronic Medical Record System, eClinical Works, Microsoft Office

Responsibilities:

  • Operations, Training and Oversight: Provides one-on-one support and troubleshooting day to day electronical medical record issues. Provides resolution to issues that arise when feasible; escalates to higher level when needed. Processes faxes and release of information requests. Develops and maintains training guides for the electronic medical record system. Assist in the implementation of specific procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and internal best practices of Texas A&M Health Standard Operating Procedures related to the use of EMR and HIPAA. Reviews and updates operating procedures as needed.  Makes recommendations for new procedures as needed. Assists with developing plans and establishing goals for the department. May supervise program support staff and student assistants. 

  • Data and Reporting: Works closely with the faculty, residents, staff, and students to ensure accurate collecting and recording of health information in EMR and image archiving system. Conducts audits of patient health information. Summarizes and reports errors to leadership. Produces and reports requested results to stakeholders through administrative or quality metric reports. Assists with oversight of external and internal sourced data. Performs other duties as assigned
