Job Description
Being a part of Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness (SDFW) at ASU as the Program Coordinator of Facilities and Events means uniquely engaging in our mission of building an ASU student community that embraces physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being of self and others as a hallmark of the Sun Devil Experience. We do this through the skill building, community building and healthfulness.
This position is responsible for developing student employees through the expansion and delivery of state of the art facilities and engaging programs and services focused on physical activity and healthy lifestyles at all locations. While this position will be working primarily at the ASU West Valley Campus, in Glendale AZ, the Program Coordinator works in a team of Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness professionals, from all four ASU locations.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for leading all facility related efforts sponsored by Sun Devil Fitness & Wellness at the ASU West Valley campus. This includes programming inside the SDFC and throughout campus, and collaboration with clubs, organizations, and university departments.
- Engage, develop, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate dynamic student leaders including student coordinators, student managers, student supervisors.
- Design and implement development and leadership opportunities for student employees.
- Create dynamic and consistent programming that promotes student community and meets the changing needs of the ASU student body.
- Serve as liaison between ASU’s Facility Management (FACMAN) and outside vendors when it comes to facility maintenance, repairs and updates.
- Create and maintain spaces inside the SDFC that promote healthy lifestyles.
- Serve as a member of the one-university Facilities team to maintain and enhance SDFW grounds and buildings.
- Develop a collaborative relationship with clubs and organizations on campus to provide support and expertise to aid in programming initiatives held at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex.
- Provide policy education to patrons correctly and consistently and ensure a high level of risk management is present in the programs and services.
- Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of programs and services.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Foster ASU spirit, pride, and tradition, embodying the core values of our institution and inspiring others to uphold them with enthusiasm and dedication.
- Perform other duties as specified by the Assistant Director – West Valley and Director for Facilities and Operations.
- Provide input in all areas of Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness as a collaborative and team effort.
- Cultivate an inclusive and diverse environment for student participants and staff.
- Address patron comments, concerns, behaviors and conduct issues as necessary and with outstanding customer service.
- Assist with creating, forecasting, monitoring and allocating the various budgets associated with facility operations.
- Assist with purchasing and maintenance of program equipment and supplies.
- Conduct an on-going review and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
Job location is primarily at the
West Campus; however, the incumbent will be required to periodically travel to other ASU campuses to perform work and to assess programs.
Days and Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; requires availability on nights and weekends as needed for ASU programs, events and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of a Master's degree in Higher Education, Social/Behavioral Sciences, Recreation, Leisure Studies, Sports Management, or related field experiences
- Experience supervising, training, developing and evaluating student employees.
- Experience initiating collaborations with university and community partnerships.
- Experience cultivating an inclusive, safe and diverse environment for student participants and staff.
- Experience with student leadership development in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Programs
- Evidence of current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain in the first thirty (30) days
- Evidence of current American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Certification or willing to obtain in first thirty (30) days
