Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). One (1) year of full-time work experience (part-time student experience may be prorated to meet the full-time experience requirement).
Preferred Qualifications: 
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience within college career services, academic advising, student affairs, recruitment or related fields. Experience providing career or academic coaching within a diverse college population. Experience with the design and delivery of F2F and virtual presentations and programs. Experience advising, coaching, training and/or supervising college students. Experience using back-end databases such as corporate applicant tracking systems, advising, or career services databases. Experience with computer applications Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.

Your mission is to empower the next generation of diverse talent by creating and delivering innovative programming that not only prepares them for career success but also connects them to top industry partners. 
Duties:

  • Programming/Event Management: 
    • Design and implement F2F and virtual programs to prepare students for the workforce as part of our Diversity Professional Leadership Network and Diversity Talent Development programs. Provide logistical support for employer-student events (i.e. career fairs, networking meet-ups). Use a variety of technologies to support these activities. Staff events that occur in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Career Coaching: 
    • Coach and prep students and alumni individually and in groups via F2F and virtual, on job/internship search strategies, helping students to clarify career interests, compose strong personal branding and applications, and present professionally. Guide students on the use of Handshake and other career tools; conduct mock interviews and critique application materials. 
  • Outreach and Campus Liaison Work: 
    • Serve as liaison to select academic departments, faculty, and staff, as well as career-focused student organizations.
  • Information Management & Teamwork: 
    • Uses sophisticated career center management software and other survey tools to collect data and track placements. Review, approve, and promote opportunities posted in our recruitment system, Handshake.
  • Professional Development and Committee Involvement:
    • Participate in opportunities that promote your learning, growth, and development (i.e. classes, training, committee, webinar, etc.). Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas outside of your individual unit/department (i.e. campus wide traditions, events, programs, etc.). Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Evening and weekend work will be required at times.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
