Job Description
The Walton Sustainability Solutions Service within ASU’s Global Futures Laboratory is seeking an experienced Program Coordinator.
The Coordinator is engaged in program coordination, operations, and administrative assistance, which includes coordinating activities and functions of the two programs to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the programs are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. This includes support for the Solution Service’s sustainability initiatives with external stakeholders and partners across government, nonprofit and industry.

Salary Range
$42,017 - $55,000 per year; DOE
Essential Duties
- In collaboration with management of the Rob and Melani Walton Sustainability Solutions Service, develops, schedules, and supports program goals and objectives, and identifies mutual opportunities.
- Schedules meetings, workshops, and events including venue reservations, catering, lodging, and transportation as needed.
- Assists with travel arrangements for management and incoming visitors.
- Receives quotes and estimates, processes documentation and secures vendor contracts.
- Assists with budget proposals and recommendations; controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations; recommends equipment and resources for program(s).
- Drafts proposal for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors.
- Represents Walton programs at events, conferences, and workshops.
- Coordinates department activities or acts as liaison with other GFL sustainability departments, such as the Sustainability Teachers’ Academies.
- Assists in written communications including editing documents prepared by others.
- Monitors or supervises the activities of subordinates, if applicable.
- Develops and schedules a program work plan in accordance with specifications, objectives and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates program activities through assigned staff; prioritizes and delegates work activities.
- Confers with and advises staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretations; refers to appropriate department or person when unable to respond.
- Prepares periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
- Evaluates program effectiveness to suggest improved methods; analyzes results and takes proper action based on outcome.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, community partners, and other stakeholders.
- Manages multiple assignments in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

- Issues pertaining to the area of assignment.
- Coordinating events, workshops or conferences.
- Arranging travel.
- Budgeting and accounting principles.
- Working with MS Outlook and all MS Office applications.
- Composing written communications and editing for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.
- Standard office policies and procedures.
Working Environment
- Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.
- Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.
- Expected to be responsive to customers, engaged in work production, resourceful, flexible, and respectful of others.

- Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
- Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
- Remote work is an arrangement where the employee spends less than 60% of their regular workweek at a regularly assigned ASU work location. Executive vice president-level approval is required.
