Job Summary
Join Red Butte Garden’s School Programs team in connecting students with nature through informal education! Share your passion for the outdoors, the environment, and plants with school aged kids during field trips, classroom visits, and more. Gain valuable experience planning and teaching school programs and seasonal events. Must enjoy being outdoors, informal education, and working with school aged children. Depending on season, this position will be planning, preparing for, and leading field trips within the Garden, leading off-site classroom visits, or supporting other programs.
Red Butte Garden is accessible via several bus routes that stop in Research Park and at the University Medical Center, as well as the Trax Red line, followed by a short walk or on-demand university campus shuttle. Responsibilities
  • Teaching on and off-site school programs to elementary school students
  • Assisting in the daily operations by maintaining supplies, facilities, and equipment
  • Assisting the Programs department with other activities, programs, and seasonal events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Two years of related experience, ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks, expertise using MS Office software, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. Database experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

  • Experience working in an outdoor setting.
