Position Summary

UNM’s Bureau of Business & Economic Research (BBER) is currently looking for TWO graduate or undergraduate research assistants to join our research team for upcoming projects. These projects include research on the film industry, arts and cultural economics, internet access, economic impact analyses and a variety of other projects dealing with issues important to New Mexico. Employment with BBER provides an outstanding opportunity to develop a wide range of research skills and to work closely with communities across New Mexico.
Under general supervision of the Director or staff, student research assistant(s) will participate in socio-economic research projects for BBER. Responsibilities may include the following:
-Create, maintain and update socio-economic databases from primary and secondary sources
-Prepare tables and charts for research projects and presentations
-Collect information and data from a variety of sources, including internet and library searches.
-Develop and conduct telephone interviews and surveys.
-Compile and analyze information.
-Conduct literature reviews.
-Assist in preparation of documents for clients and publication.
Employment is for fall & spring semesters (to 20 hours/week) and summer (up to 40 hrs/week). Pay rate is $11.50-14 per hour, depending on experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED:
-Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, various databases.
-Satisfactory academic progress is expected, preferably with a focus in Sociology, Economics, or Community & Regional Planning.
-Comfort and ability to work independently.
