Job Description

Performs a variety of duties related to a regional transformation project on the Big Island of Hawai’i. In collaboration with local stakeholders in Hawai’i, Decision Theater will co-develop a data-based decision support tool for Hawai’i’s major systems, including its supply chains, economy and educational systems, and major elements of its natural ecosystems, that can serve as a foundation for explaining pathways to resilient and sustainable futures for Hawai’i Island in close collaboration with local communities. This position will assist in the preparation, hosting, and facilitation of a series of local convergence workshop on the Big Island of Hawai’i. This position performs its duties with established procedures and guidelines.
This position is ONLY for individuals located in Hawai’i and available to work on-site on the Big Island of Hawai’i. This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of 90 days from time of hire.

Essential Duties

  • Assists in the preparation of in-person Decision Theater engagements including administrative planning, event logistics, A/V support, note-taking, and set-up/tear down.
  • Experience in event facilitation or the ability to facilitate small breakout groups is preferred.
  • May conduct background research related to the big island of Hawai’i, maintain research documentation/sources, and brief colleagues on background for topics.
  • Must be reliable, on time and show up when scheduled; flexibility in duties is essential.

No prior experience required.

  • Experience in work that requires being detail-oriented.
  • Ability to pick up things quickly with a strong desire to learn.
  • Experience with Audio Visual technology.
  • Evidence of a strong work ethic.

Working Environment

This will largely be a remote work position with frequent supervisor direction via Zoom. During community engagement weeks on-site in Hawai'i, the following is required:

  • Ability to travel across the Big Island of Hawai'i to engagements.
  • Ability to pack/unpack equipment and load into meeting sites (lift and carry boxes up to 50 pounds); sometimes multiple times per day.
  • Ability to assist in the set up of tech equipment.
  • Willingness to assist in notetaking and group facilitation.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
