Job Description Summary:
The position will enhance the Department of Internal Medicine’s current interdisciplinary research strengths with opportunities to collaborate with outstanding scientists pursuing basic and translational investigations. This position will perform research projects and with the opportunity for overall responsibility and authority to manage lab and make decisions regarding lab management.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • PhD, MD/DO or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Technical experience in lab research.

  • Established record of scholarly productivity related to basic science (cell, molecular biology, or genetics).

  • Evidence of or strong potential for externally funded research.

  • Experience with teaching or mentoring students at all degree and post-graduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • Background in IBD research.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Perform independent laboratory research in the area of gastrointestinal diseases and hepatological disease with the focus of inflammatory bowel disease.

  • Prepare scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.

  • Participate in conferences, journal clubs and National meetings related to GI/Hepatology disease research.

  • Train junior lab members in research methodology.

  • Maintain up-to-date lab protocols and research documentation.

  • Additional duties as directed by the division director and department chair.
