Unit Position Summary

The Visiting International Professional Program (VIPP) is a part of the MSU International Studies and Programs (ISP), which provides non-degree certificate programs for international visitors for professional development and capacity building. VIPP is currently seeking a skilled Korean Translator to accurately interpret written and audio pieces while preserving their original meaning, format, and tone.

As a translator you will work with VIPP staff on carefully reading and comprehending the context of the given material and converting the documentation written in English to Korean and meticulously proofreading the final translations. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail and fluency in at least English and Korean if neither are your native language. A primary objective will be to deliver high-quality translated content that aligns with our internal requirements and enables us to effectively engage a broader audience.

As an Interpreter for VIPP you will work closely with our program coordinators and our South Korean participants helping to bridge communication gaps and foster multilingual understanding. Your expertise will allow you to accurately translate words, original tone and meaning. If you possess strong linguistic abilities and a passion for language, we encourage you to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Help with communication between South Korean participants and Program Coordinators.
  • Converting text and audio recordings in one language to another.
  • Ensuring translated texts conveys original meaning and tone.
  • Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy.
  • Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs.
  • Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure).

  • Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.

Work Mode: Flexible (remote work might be considered)

Payment: $20 per hour


Desired Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

  • Native Language or Fluent in English both verbal and written.
  • Native Language or Fluent in Korean both verbal and written.

Desired:

  • BSc in Translation, Interpreting or similar field.
  • Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus.
  • Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
