Postdoctoral position on Space Plasma Physics (Heliophysics)

The department of Aerospace, Physics and Space Sciences (APSS) at the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) is looking to fill a postdoctoral research position in space plasma physics. The successful candidate will conduct research at the frontier of solar wind plasma and turbulence using data from current and previous spacecraft, theory, and numerical simulations. The initial appointment will be for one year renewable for one more year depending upon satisfactory performance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to actively participate in future proposal submissions to secure extramural funding, which could result in an extension of their appointment beyond the second year.

Required qualifications:

(1) PhD in Physics or closely related area,

(2) Research experience in spacecraft data analysis,

(3) Basic knowledge of the plasma theory and numerical simulations,

(4) Familiarity with Python and/or IDL and other programming languages, and

(5) Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to prepare scientific documents to be submitted to peer reviewed journals are required.
