Position Description
The Department of Human Evolutionary Biology seeks applications for a full-time position that combines postdoctoral research and undergraduate teaching responsibilities. The position is initially for one year with reappointment for additional years contingent upon satisfactory performance and review and continued funding. The start-date is flexible and could be as early as January 1, 2022.
 
Research responsibilities involve conducting research on the biomechanics and physiology of locomotion, primarily the foot using both in vivo experimentation and robotic models. Research will be in the Skeletal Biology and Biomechanics Laboratory directed by Professor Daniel Lieberman (Principal Investigator) and located in the Peabody Museum, Cambridge, and will involve collaborations with colleagues in the Paulsen School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
 
Teaching responsibilities involve teaching or co-teaching one course per term, including one course that involves supervising undergraduate research in the Skeletal Biology and Biomechanics Lab.
 
Additional responsibilities involve training and assisting students in the use of specialized equipment in the lab for their research, ensuring general lab safety, and managing research activities within the Skeletal Biology and Biomechanics Lab.
 
The successful applicant will be hired as Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer in the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology.

Basic Qualifications
A doctoral degree is required for this position. Candidates must have received the doctoral degree by the appointment start-date.
Additional Qualifications
Candidates should be knowledgeable about human anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, and should have research experience in experimental methods. Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is desired.
